The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives has released it’s Alternative Federal Budget – including a detailed vision for getting to the finish line on $10/day child care, and taking the profit motive out of care.
The budget outlines a vision to create a universal child care system for all and includes strategies like:
- Introduce publicly planned, publicly managed expansion
- Public funding for ELCC operators
- Target expansion funding to public and non-profit providers
- Build infrastructure fro high quality, accessible and affordable child care
The alternative budget focuses on many aspects of Canadian life, but dedicates pages 38-41 to what it means to build a Canada-wide system of child care. Check it out!
