The Manitoba Child Care Association reports that Probe Research’s 15th annual Manitoba Business Leaders Index showed that 76 percent of the provinces’ CEOs and business leaders consider the lack of child care in the province a serious issue. Currently, there are more than 15,000 children on Manitoba’s waiting list.
Almost half of business leaders (49%) reported they experience difficulty finding skilled employees while Manitoba parents said child care wait times hinder their ability to work or attend school, with 41% delaying a return to work, 30% turning down a job, and 24% turning down an educational opportunity because they lacked child care.
