In August 2013 the CCAAC made a budget submission to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance. Below is a short list of the recommendations we presented.

Recommendation #1: limit the role of the market in child care provisions and live up to Canada’s international treaty obligations with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child by investing in a quality, inclusive, publicly funded, non- profit early childhood education and care (ECEC) system.
Recommendation #2: Re-evaluate the Canadian Social Transfer and provide more money to the provinces and territories for early learning and child care. Ensure that provinces and territories spend the money intended for early learning and child care on improving or creating more public, non-profit child care programs.
Recommendation #3: Spend at least 1% of GDP on early child care and education.
